Editor and Publisher Apologizes for Terrorist Embeds *shock*

Editor and Publisher ought to be renamed, Apologist and Collaborater. Hey, and next time you mention my blog why not drop a link for all that is sacred and holy! You'd think your site wasn't html enabled......

And, as if on cue, you organize your story in such a way as to 1) set up claims of bias in the Pulitzer, in this case we are not talking about partisan bias but anti-American bias--a serious accusation 2) then refute those claims. Nice job.

Does the entire Associated Press corp pay you to kiss their asses or does your tongue just naturally like the brown eye?

And if the Pulitzer really shows war 'as it is', which is a terribly stupid claim given the limitations of space in any publication which inevitably leads to certain photos being picked which tell certain parts of the story and leaving out other photos which tell other parts of the war story, then why were not images of American victories shown or that of Americans happily getting along with children in the street? Or is that part of the war 'as it is' not worthy of the lauds of fellow journalists?

Our objections are not about the war photojournalists and the brave work they do. It is with the hiring of stringers such as Bilal Hussein who is comfortable enough with Abu Musab al Zarqawi's al Qaeda in Iraq or Sheik Abdullah al-Janabi's Mujahidin Shura Council of Fallujah that he can get up close and personal for some nice staged photos.

Our other objection is to the photos selected as worthy of the Pulitzer. Is the Associated Press an American organization or not? Cause, I was kind of under the impression that America was sort of in this little thing called a SHOOTING WAR!

Ernie Pyle is rolling over in his grave, right about now. I wonder if he ever got that up close and personal interview with the Waffen SS he always wanted to do? You know, to show their side of the story. Cause, you know, they had families too. And kids. And flower gardens. And kitties......

7 Those are unmodified photos and there's no changing that. Fact, though, is that the media, most of it, is a large organization of whores, and a somewhat effective means for Insurgents to demoralize their enemy = US. The Chinese, now those guys are fucking smart as shit, because they've got the State-Controlled media, so when they go after Taiwan (or, Godforbid, get into WWIII with us) they won't have their press stabbing them in the back. Now, I'm not saying it should be unconstitutional for the press to demoralize the whole effort, because it isn't. I'm just saying some people are smarter than us. 10 One could argue the reporters who are "embedded with the enemy" are doing a service to America. The photographs they take of the enemy in action provide invaluable information for American intelligence agents to analyze - methodology, numbers, weaponry, possible location etc. My guess is that American generals consider such photos a windfall rather than a nusance. If I were an insurgent I would not want my picture taken.

Further, it would require that the reporters saw our side of the conflict as 'the good guys'. As long as reporters see themselves as neutral observers (which they are not) they will continue to spread terrorist propaganda. These reporters have in the past and continue to refuse to cooperate with the coalition in finding the enemies of the U.S.

With as many AK47Â’s the Middle East has, I canÂ’t believe anyone is unarm over there. To me, when a group targets military or government targets, that group is saying we hate your policies. But when they start targeting civilians, the group is then saying we hate your people. It is okay for a group to hate a policy; policies can change. Hating a group of people is a different matter. Every military is suppose to be trained to protect themself. Civilians do not always have that luxury.

30 Greg, For one thing, there is no real comparison between rape and what I call guerilla warfare. Rape is a crime and the victim should use ever means possible to kill the sicko trying to do it. What I am saying is that terrorism is a crime because they are intentionally attacking civilian targets. Guerilla warfare is where you have a small outmatch group that still attacks an occupying force. They attack legitimate targets that they feel the can harm and get away. Also the difference between the US troops killing civilians and the terrorist, is that we were not aiming for the civilians. These were unfortunate individuals that were in the wrong place.

Long Live Kurdistan!

There should be an independent Kurdish state. The blood, sweat, and tears of our Northern Iraqi allies have earned them this right. But if we cannot have a Kurdish state at this time, I guess the Presidency of Iraqi will do. For now.

11 In the Reservates, the Indians are a majority, and having land they can govern themselves is not same as having a country of ones own. (Or if it is, we've been an independent country for over 5000 years instead of about 90) Also, the Kurds are not a majority, they are a large minority concentrated on a particular area, like the reservated Indians. They are only big in that area because they were chased out of all other areas of the country.

The Kurds have nothing to call their own and they have no desire to be Iraqis or Turks. Kurdistan is like America's Puerto Rico. The difference is they keep voting to stay as part of America. Most would be more than happy if they formed their own government and went their own way.

Christian May Receive Death Penalty for Conversion

In fact, all four major schools of Islamic jurisprudence still agree that the death penalty is acceptable in cases where the apostate refuses to come back to the true faith.

What is almost as troubling is that few moderate Muslims embrace liberal notions of religious freedom. At best, they renounce the death penalty in favor of other penalties--such as fines or jail.

Christians in Iran have expressed great fears for the life of pastor Hamid Pourmand, a lay leader in a church and a convert from Islam, who will appear before an Islamic court next week to face charges of apostasy. If found guilty he is likely to face the death penalty.

While travelling by ferry from Istanbul to the suburbs, we met a man who had converted from Islam to Christianity, and would have been in a similar boat if he'd remained in Iran, and was still less than well thought of even in Turkey. No one is asking you to denounce your religions but just answer some questions, as you must agree some of the rules of islam are in the dark ages and should be modified. A point i would like to make is that in all honesty all of these books of revelations are story books that have been written thousands of years ago by different people all with their own interpretations i think, that thousands of years later, believe what you will, but take it with a pinch of salt. Try to live life in peace with other mankind. The reason i bring this up is the american coptic christian family who were murdered in their own home and the Amina Wadid imam who said prayers to a congregation of male and female muslims, on this blog muslims were tearing that woman apart threatening her life and all sorts you only have to check the archives to find proof of this. YOu see i read claims that its not right for men and woman to pray together as it would take your mind off your prayers and causes you to look at members of the opposite sex in a lusting way. Some actually posted this. the question is, is this person trying to claim thats what causes affairs outwith marriage my response to that kind of ignorance in nonsense. If you are going to stray you will you cannot walk around not noticing anyone else or having to ineract with members of the opposite sex its all down to willpower and respect of our partners. Other comments made were that people who spend time with their friends basically do so at their own risk as it also causes affairs, this will happen if it is going to and nothing will stop it if you want it happen. I personally live by my own rules that i treat all people the same and with repsect and expect the same from others and so far havent sone too badly. Also not everyone here says there are only Muslim terrorists we have had discussions about other terrorist groups ie. the IRA/UDA, and as far as i am aware they are not muslims! or are they?

Seriously though it is nice to hear from a muslim who denounces the extremists/terrorists we need more of you. Noam Chomsky Was Right, There is a Media Bias

When you sit right behind the 10 yard line, pretty much every play seems like it's on the other side of the field. Hence, when Noam Chomsky, who is far-left of even the farthest left Democrats (he calls himself an anarcho-syndicalist), says the Mainstream Media (MSM) is 'right-wing', he is really using the term to describe any one in favor of capitalism. To Noam Chomsky, Ted Kennedy is a raving right-wing lunatic. Ok, maybe not raving, but right-wing nonetheless.

It is therefore surprisig to most people that I am a big fan of Noam Chomsky & Edward S. Herman's General Propaganda Model as put forth their book Manufacturing Consent.

While Chomsky and Herman's theory was developed to show how corporations control the media for their own anti-democratic purposes, the same theory can also be used to explain all sorts of media biases. Cassandra (via Emperor Misha) has an interesting post on the subject, and does a great job in classifying media bias once it has hapened, but it lacks a theoretical causal underpinning.

When attempting to explain liberal media bias the Propaganda Model does not need any grand conspiracy as the causal mechanism. Instead, it relies on the every day mundane activities of the hiring and editorial process.

Further, the advent of blogging may eventually make this theory arcane. As media voices diversify, the number of actors responsible for making decisions increases. Bias becomes less a concern because the diversity of thes voices are all over the ideological spectrum.

1 The only part of this that I would disagree with is the assumption that popular bloggers are influenced by smaller bloggers in what they write. Although I don't read all of them every day, I visit a very large number of blogs throughout the week. I very rarely see large bloggers linking to smaller ones. The exception would be Glenn Reynolds, and he isn't influlenced by smaller bloggers, because he doesn't write, he just links. And, his list of people he links to is fairly small.

The Pulitzer and Terrorist Embeds

Yesterday, a stringer for CBS News was shot by U.S. troops in Fallujah. Steve S. has the report here. So, why was the man shot at? Yahoo News:

The U.S. military said in a statement from Mosul released at the Pentagon that U.S. soldiers had been involved in an engagement with at least one suspected insurgent who was "waving an AK-47 (assault rifle) and inciting a crowd of civilians."
During the incident, "an individual that appeared to have a weapon who was standing near the insurgent was shot and injured. This individual turned out to be a reporter who was pointing a video camera," the military statement said.

Let's get a few facts straight. The individual shot at here may not have been embedded like AP photographers were. He may have just come across this scene after it began.

Maybe.

Paul at Wizbang makes the case and Rathergate note that it is quite possible that the AP stringer who shot this photo just happened upon the scene. Granted.

However, while most of the blogosphere is up in arms against that photo, the really troubling photo is this one.

This photo has no other explanation than that of the AP photographer being privy to the highest ranks of the insurgency. The photo was taken in Fallujah, where the 'resistance' was led by two well known terrorist groups, al Qaeda in Iraq and The Army of Ansar al-Sunna, and their salafist sympathizers of the Fallujah Mujahidin Shura Council--the religious leaders of the city that instituted a Taliban-like rule when the U.S. withdrew from the city.

As we noted when that photo was first taken, these 'insurgents' are in clear violation of the Geneva Convention because they wear no identifiable uniform. The photo also appears to be staged. All the evidence seems to suggest that the AP photographer, Bilal Hussein, had access to terrorist forces and was 'embedded' with them in every sense of the word.

Here is one more photo taken by the AP and which helped them win the Pulitzer. This time, the reporter is clearly embedded with Muqtada al-Sadr's Mahdi Army at a time when they were fighting U.S. troops. Note, again, the absence of identifiable uniforms. The dove on the fighters shoulder is just the icing on the cake.

While it may be argued that the murder witnessed by an AP photographer in Iraq was not staged for his benefit, clearly the above photos were. The Pulitzer Prize was, in fact, given to an organization that has information, ties, and serves the propaganda purposes of terrorists.

Aiding the enemy in a time of war is treason. The AP, an American non-profit organization, is guilty of that crime.

5 IMHO... its the responsibility of journalists like these AP photographers to get as close to the news as possible. If that means travelling alongside terrorists then so be it. They are not aiding the insurgency in any way, nor are they giving it publicity (terrorist media wings are fully adept at doing that themselves). All these journalists are doing is risking there lives to show us whats happening in Iraq first-hand. Those mortars would have been fired whether or not the AP dude was there to take snaps! A good analogy is US intelligence agents cooperating with small fish terrorists so as to build a picture of the wider insurgency. You don't complain about that, do you?

18 I don't understand how the AP photographers were "aiding" terrorists. You don't see them shooting an rpg or bringing them another mortar between snap shots. Where does it say that the AP reporters are cooking for the insurgents after a hard day's work? They are just there to document the events. If anything you have to question their morality because if they really knew when an attack was going to take place they should have reported it. I don't know about other circumstances but as far as that election worker execution is concerned, the AP were tipped off on a "demonstration". If they chose to report on any information they witness or hear then their life would be in danger. They are simply choosing neutrality in order to document the events. NOT PARTAKING IN IT. How is this treason? And just stop with the terrorist propoganda crap. If anything the US military should appreciate the work the AP is doing. They show faces of the insurgents. They give clues to their location, types of weapons used, level of orgnization and experience. Some are asking why pictures that show the brighter side of Iraq were not chosen. In this case, I don't think Pulizter or the AP staff is trying to show anti-American views. I think the AP staff was honored because they risked their lives and showed the carnage of war. Although pictures of soldiers playing with kids SHOULD be shown, I don't see how the photographers who took those pictures put themselves in the same level of danger as the AP photographers that were honored. If anything, Pulitzer is awarding them for their courage instead of their "pro-terrorist propoganda activities." So you can view the photos and judge the award all you want. Just don't go as far as declaring their actions as treason.

If journalists and photographers are not allowed to assume a neutral role in a war zone, how will the world get an unbiased and accurate documentation of the events? The last thing we should want is for a drape to be spread over Iraq and only lifted after "everything becomes okay". As an educator, I don't see how you would endorse this form of censorship and denial of information. As for the propoganda issue, you mention Goebbels (a minister of propoganda) and Paine who both spread propoganda through speeches and written work. If the AP was attaching notes such as "People of Iraq, unite against the US!!!" with their photographs then you would have a foundation for your arguement. 14 Actually, most of your military strenght is located quite far from your actual country, therefore a large alliance (or just one country with longrange WoMDs) could easily destroy all major cities and abroad military bases, since they are neatly located on small areas near the coast line or, better yet, on islands. This would naturally lead into a "fuck this, if America doesn't exist, neither will the rest of the world"-effect, which is launching nukes from your large, empty areas somewhere in the middle. So military offence to actually destroy the country rather than to kill all its military personnel abroad, that actually causes a threat, seems unlikely until an effective anti-missile defence system is developed.

A diverse, large country requires some pretty mean ways of control to keep it as a one. Most of the large scale anti-Bush gatherings must've been organized by the democrats or a large operation determined to disrupt order, therefore it is necessary for your government to take offensive measures and perhaps violate the principles of freedom of speech. When such movements are allowed to grow in a country pretty much crawling with newspeople, it would get publicity and keep growing. It has been seen what that leads into: During the Cold War people went red all over, and when it got too big, you started attacking countries turning red and threw all reds in your country to jail. This kind of politics is exactly why people around the world started hating your country, and that is why all such large, contraversial operations are held in secret or suppressed with imprisonments. (Also, if enough people go anti-Bush, they go pro-democrat/liberal/greenparty, and then there won't be another republican president for 30 years, so---wouldn't really bother me--- the country would be heavily divided in half) And you have pretty much no gun restrictions, so who knows what kind of army might pop up in the event of disorderly conduct spreading through the nation.

(Guess we're naturally brawlers or have a strong killer instinct) Basketball is fun, sort of, but not very popular around here. Last, no I won't get you drugs, since I would have to go 100miles east to Russia to get cheap ones without being in some diagnosed state of insanity (once more: department of health in Oulu can be notified, if you consider me insane. They'll arrange a psychologist session, and you have to pay for it, if I don't turn out to be insane. If, however, my mental state is questionable, I will most likely recieve medication treatment, and you will be notified of it).

Since Finland (despite what the Spanish think) is a part of Europe, we get over 3000 channels (this far I've gone through about 1000) from all over Europe,(great way to learn new languages, since usually subtitled only in French or German (the darn channels are useless without at least high school level language knowledge)) and also many of your channels. For some reason I can't find MTV though... just MTV Europe, and that's full of mushy pop. "Ni puhu suome" is actually : Yeah, speak Finnish! in a Turku-slang kind of way. 65 I learned that in a bar in Aanekoski (sp?), I worked for a few days at Metsu Serla paper plant. They serve beer in the cafeteria, pretty good policy in my view. I got a speeding ticket in Finland. I had no clue what the fucking road signs said, or how fast kph is. Finnish HP aimed automatic weapon at me when I could not get the door open fast enough. I never paid the ticket.

Up until the disappointing Hollywood-style ending, the movie feels about as atypical as they come, and that's a good thing. None of the Italian-Americans around whom writer-director Melissa Martin's sweet story centers, for instance, have Mafia connections, nor are they the sort of garlic-eating, wildly gesticulating caricatures found in so many commercials for marinara sauce. BAIO SIMPLY SHINES AS DOMINIC, the romance-impaired friend of an elderly couple who lives above his bakery and whose preposterous marriage proposal to their daughter Lucca (Minter) comes when he learns that the woman who has treated him like a son is terminally ill. It's obviously a little hard to believe, but Baio and Minter, who plays a kind of bruised soul to Baio's romantic cripple, add plausability to the transaction, which begins as a business deal and grows into something more. Enriched by a strong and unforced supporting cast, 'Bread' nourishes the heart, even if its fairy-tale ending feels tacked on and unnecessary."

The idea is a hokey comic contrivance, but the film, directed and written by Pittsburgh playwright Melissa Martin, treats the details of the agreement with full seriousness. It never takes easy shortcuts on the way to its touching conclusion. Dominic's transformation from corporate shark to a good, big-hearted man - 'a piece of bread' in Italian slang - is unforced and entirely credible. It goes from amusing to deeply sentimental in the blink of an eye, but never feels forced, and it definitely ranks as one of the better films to tackle the subject of what it means to be a man in American society. It's no 'Fight Club' though, despite the fact that Meat Loaf has a brief scene. Richie (Scott Baio) and his two cousins have lost their grandfather, and they don't want to lose their dads without getting to know them. Their fathers (played by Dean Stockwell, Alex Rocco and Joe Viterelli) are the iconic Italian patriarchs; emotions besides anger rarely appear, and they feel life must be suffered in silence while providing for those who depend on them. Their sons (Baio, Thomas Calabro and Carlo Imperato) are a bit more modern in their approach to life. They want to hear about their fathers' ambitions, and they need to bond, though they often don't realize it. The boys' solution: kidnap their fathers and take them on a camping trip. For all its comedic moments, 'FACE TO FACE' raises some serious questions. Namely, if men teach by example, what are we teaching our male children? How much rage can a person hold back before it explodes into a heart attack? At what point do you get the courage to tell your father you love him? And why do so many men hate their fathers only to end up acting just like them? (There's something very Nietzsche-like in that.) This movie doesn't answer all those questions, but it attempts a discussion, which is something most men won't even venture toward even with the specter of death looming overhead. In other words: Don't plan on seeing this with your father, but do see it. It just may help you understand the man you'll become."

Bloggers Helping Hot Protester Babes Forward Democracy in Lebanon

Michael J. Totten e-mails me that he is in Lebanon with Spirit of America founder Jim Hake. They are there to raise money for the pro-democracy/anti-Syrian occupation movement--ostensibly.

My own opinion is that Totten is just there to pick up on one of those hot protester babes. I mean, check out the Spirit of America page right now and tell me that wasn't Totten's underlying motive? Perv.

Anyway, perv or no, Totten and Hake have the right idea. This is an extrememly important cause if we want to see the Middle East come out of the political Dark Ages and join modernity. Give a little or give a lot. Every penny counts.

Iraqi Murdered in New Al Qaeda Beheading Video

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's Al Qaeda in Iraq has posted a video at an Islamic bulletin board showing the gruesome beheading murder of an Iraqi security guard. The Jawa Report has obtained a copy of the video. Images from the video are posted below. The video may be downloaded via Vlad here (see April 5th, second video).

The name of the murdered victim is Jassim Mohammed Hussein Mahdi.

Unlike previous beheadng murder snuff films, the terrorists actually edit together several scenes of Jassim Mohammed Hussein Mahdi. The lighting indicates that the victim was forced through several tapings. Mahdi sits on the floor and 'confesses' to the 'crime' of 'collaboration'. His captors then condemn him for the crime of apostasy. Under Islamic law the maximum punishment of apostasy is death. He is forced to answer these accusations and to implore other Iraqis not to fight with the 'Zionist Crusader Forces'.

Later Mahdi is taken outside and thrown on the ground by two masked terrorists. One of them then holds him down while the other slowly cuts his head off with a small knife. Death does not come quickly and Mahdi struggles against the human scum that murder him in the name of their religious convictions. The terrorist is forced to rest and is offered another, presumably sharper, knife.

The video is the first one in months in which the victim of Zarqawi's al Qaeda group ( formerly known as Tawhid and Jihad ) is beheaded. It may be a sign of the group's growing irrelevancy and weakness. The group is thought to have abandoned the once constant barage of beheading videos because they led to criticism from even the most radical salafist elements. The new video may show that the group no longer expects support from such Islamists and is turning once again to terror as a tactic for control.

A statement shown on the video identified the Iraqi National Guard member as Jassim Mohammed Hussein Mahdi, who appeared to be in his early 20s, and the black banner of al-Qaida in Iraq, which is headed by wanted Jordanian militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.
The video, posted on a militant Web site that carries most al-Qaida in Iraq statements, could not be immediately authenticated. It showed an unidentified interrogator talking to Mahdi said he had received orders from his superiors "to kill the mujahedeen anywhere and without hesitation."
Mahdi was shown squatting on the ground in an empty room while wearing full military gear and his hands tied behind his back. He said he was a member of the Iraqi National Guard's 4th Brigade, but did not say when or where he had been captured by militants.
Mahdi said he "regretted" working with the U.S.-allied Iraqi government and urged "all members of the police, National Guard and army to abandon this work, which is religiously prohibited."
"God's verdict against this renegade, who was tempted by dollars, has been carried out," said a statement shown on the video. "Let everyone who sold his religion and joined this unit know that he will have the same fate."
The video later showed Mahdi lying blindfolded on the ground before two masked men appeared. One held Mahdi's legs while the other severed his head with a knife with shouts of "Allahu akbar!" or "God is great!" heard from the background.

2 Let's hope that this is a sign of their growing weakness and irrelevancy, and not a sign of a resurgence in the beheading videos. I admit that human life is human life...but I am much more comfortable with seeing the Iraqi soldiers or civilians than an American getting this treatment. Obviously Zarqawi's still in the area. We can't get bin Laden because he seems to keep moving and hiding in shadows for months at a time. What's the reason we can't find this Zarqawi thug? It's pathetic to think that our intelligence over there is really that poor.

More Terrorist Propaganda Videos

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi's al Qaeda in Iraq terorist organization released a video of the assault on Abu Ghraib prison. Evan Kohlmann has details here. What is not shown in the video or in the accompanying announcement are the 50 dead or wounded al Qaeda gunmen, nor an explanation as to only 2 of the 7 suicide bombers were able to explode themselves.

Chad at In the Bullpen has a very odd propaganda video produced by the Mujahidin Army in Iraq. The oddly edited video claims that Dale Stoffel, an American civilian contractor killed in Iraq last December, was really a CIA agent. The video then says Bush is trying to cover this fact up. Odd indeed.

He sent it to me yesterday wanting to know my thoughts. Honestly, this one is too bizarre for analysis. It is, however, worth a look just for the sheer entertainment value of seeing Bush photos next to prominent Jews.

This is the same group that produced another propaganda video in English aimed at pursuading the American people the justness of the terrorist cause. One terrorist expert has told me he is not even sure whether this group is even Iraqi. My own assessment of the Mujahidin Army in Iraq is that they are probably Baathist remnants given the nationalistic themes of their propaganda.

Ironical: Israel to use Palestinian land for GARBAGE DUMP

Looking through today's fair and unbiased Google News links I noticed a group of articles about the prospects for peace between Israel and the Palestinians. Which article gets the lead? Is it the article about one of the sides (I wonder which one?) planning civil-disobedience to protest? Or how about an article by a promulent J-O-O-ish publication on the unwise policy of continuing with settlements? Nope. At the time of this writing the lead goes to Turkey's Zaman online: Israel to Use Palestinian Land as a 'Garbage Dump':

According to the news reported by the pro-Israeli government newspaper Haaretz, the garbage, which is collected particularly from Tel Aviv and Saron Valley, will be dumped at the Abu Susha region in the north of the West Bank. The news highlighted that this unprecedented decision, except for the occupation of the West Bank and Gaza in 1967, is against international law and would cause environmental pollution. Experts are also warning that the garbage would pollute Palestinian water source. The paper informed that Israeli bulldozers and trucks have been recently begun working to dig in order to create a place for the garbage. Israel's decision to turn Abu Susha into a "garbage dump" has been linked to financial issues, "it will be cheaper". It is said that to transfer a ton of garbage picked up from Tel Aviv to the dump in Israel would cost three or four times higher than the West Bank.

It's funny because it's true.

Pakistani Militants Murder Suspected American Agent

Via Blogs of War this Pakistan Daily Times article. Murdering suspected collaboraters, as we have oft noted, seems to be the national past time in a few promulent countries with large populations of a certain religion of peace....

Suspected Islamic militants opened fire on a man in a crowded bazaar in this tribal town on Monday, killing him before fleeing, an intelligence official said.
No one claimed responsibility for the shooting in Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan. The official, on condition of anonymity, said that authorities found some evidence suggesting the man may have been killed on suspicion that he was spying for the United States on militants in the area.

And here is the shocker.

The 35-year-old local tribesman, identified as Fazal Rahman, was shot twice in the head by fire from an AK-47 rifle. No one was arrested and a probe into the shooting has been started, he said

Maybe they ought to set up a blue-ribbon commission to tackle the incredibly difficult question of who was behind this?

UPDATE: The small minority of extremists are at it again in Pakistan. This time they're pissed because a few women decided to run in public.

Bridging the Left-Right Blog Divide

A couple of weeks ago I posted about a study on the influence of blogs in the 2004 election. What was most interesting to me was that The Jawa Report was named 20th most influential conservative blog for that time period. The crux of the report, though, was that left and right leaning blogs rarely communicate with one another. For instance, this site had the distinction of not a single influential left-leaning blog linking to The Jawa Report. Probably because not a single influential left-leaning blog knows The Jawa Report exists!

Simon has a great essay on this divide between left and right and encourages some more civil intra-blogosphere debate. I agree.
